Red Apple Lipstick

As my journey to support local continues, I am delighted to have found Red Apple Lipstick (also known as RAL). Red Apple Lipstick is a Houston, TX based clean cosmetics company founded by Jay Harper, who has mastered the art of perfect, creamy and colorful lipsticks that are gluten-free and toxin-free. Aside from their claim to fame (lipstick, of course!) RAL's line also includes pressed eyeshadows, glosses, liners, and lip balm. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on some of the coveted lipsticks.

A little about RAL from the website: "We choose to use safe ingredients, chosen carefully from the most respected ingredient suppliers in the world. And from there, every product is made here in the United States (Texas, to be precise) in small, boutique batches.
  • Hand selected, safe ingredients no petroleum, no animal bits, no gluten, soy, dairy, corn, harsh chemicals or GMOs.
  • Ingredients that effectively improve the health of your lip skin, like high quality Vitamin E. Effective, old school, manufacturing processes - the kind BEFORE chemicals were introduced. Small batches keep things fresh.
  • Stringent storage and handling procedures.
  • A special gluten free Vitamin E zaps chapped and dry lips, making them a memory."
Not only is the product safe, but the feel is amazing. I love a butter texture and these lipsticks are creamy and very moisturizing. They glide on without making my lips feel dry, a feel I really dislike. I'm thrilled that I had the opportunity to try not one, not two, but three lipsticks from RAL, which included: Cranberry Magic, Petal Pusher, and New York.

Cranberry Magic description from www.redapplelipstick.com: "A lovely pink-berry color that is just really gorgeous!"
My thoughts: Although it's described as a pink-berry color, it looked more red with pink undertones on my skin tone. I tend to play it safe when it comes to lip color, and stick to neutral ones. I may have to break out of my neutral shell because Cranberry Magic suited my complexion beautifully. You can tone it down during the day and build it up for a stronger sexier look for the night.
Ingredients: Helianthus Annus - 100% pure organic cold pressed, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii, Synthetic Beeswax, All Natural Gluten Free - Soy Free - Corn Free Vitamin E Tocopheryl Acetate, May Contain: Titanium Dioxide ,Manganese Violet, Mica, Iron Oxide.

Petal Pusher description from www.redapplelipstick.com: "The hottest hot pink, Combining all the most brilliant of bright pink hues: fuchsia, magenta, and hot pink! Bright - bold - fun...just like YOU!! Petal Pusher is an absolute summer must-have!"
My thoughts: Petal Pusher is a lovely pink shade perfect for spring and summer. The color did not appear hot pink on my complexion, it appeared bright soft pink. The color is fun, feminine, and flirty perfect for any skin tone. My husband loved the color on my lips and said they looked very kissable.
Ingredients: Ricinus Communis, Octyl palmitate, Ozokerite, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Synthetic Bees Wax, Olive (Olea Europea) Oil, Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Seed Butter, Tocopheryl Acetate from an all natural non gluten source, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis leaf Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, may contain Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Iron Oxides

New York description from www.redapplelipstick.com: "A brown based nude shade with orange undertones. This color looks especially beautiful on those with warm skin tones, but we think anyone can rock it!
My thoughts: New York is a gorgeous color. It is a very nude brown that would be perfect on any skin tone with a dramatic makeup look. Although the description says it has orange undertones, It appeared more pink undertone on my complexion, but  nudes can be a little tricky. New York is a beautiful shade, and it's one you'd have to try for yourself because it looks different from person to person. Either way, though, it's guaranteed gorgeous!
